All aboard for new bus service!
All aboard for new bus service!
All aboard for the latest green initiative from award-winning South Lytchett Manor - a new bus route designed to make holidaying in the area as environmentally friendly and convenient as possible!

The new 49 service from Transdev Yellow Buses was introduced at the special request of South Lytchett Manor owners Joanne and David Bridgen who were keen to help visitors travel to local attractions including Poole Quay and Bournemouth Pier without using a car.

Now the service, which also takes in Upton, Hamworthy, Penn Hill and Westbourne, leaves every day from Lytchett Minster at 9.10 arriving at Bournemouth Pier 40 minutes later. It then returns from Bournemouth, leaving at 14.45.

Joanne said, "We are absolutely delighted that Yellow Buses has launched this new service. We always try to be as green and environmentally friendly as possible and our caravan and camping guests often ask about local public transport. Now they can enjoy Bournemouth's beaches without having to take the car, which is good for everyone."

Holiday season now longer - and cheaper!
Great news for campers and caravanners alike - the award-winning South Lytchett Manor Caravan and Camping Park has now extended its season by almost three months and introduced an accompanying, cheaper off-season tariff!

Now this top-quality site will be open for 10 months of the year, closing only between January 2nd and March 1st, and offering holidaymakers a real opportunity to save money across the board. Click here for more on tariffs.

Site proprietor Joanne Bridgen said, "The fact that we can now welcome visitors during the Christmas period is very exciting for us, and we are delighted that we have been given permission by the local authority to extend our season in this way.

"We are also planning to bring 14 new fully serviced hardstanding sites near our entrance, all of which is especially handy for people who are travelling abroad for Christmas via the Poole harbour ferry to Cherbourg for example, and who want to stay overnight in a convenient and value-for money location."

Pool Harbour is only a five minute drive from South Lytchett Manor which was voted the top campsite in Dorset 2009 by readers of Practical Caravan magazine.
AA award five pennants to South Lytchett Manor
South Lytchett Manor Camping and Caravan Park has added the AA 5 Pennant award to its already impressive list of quality marks.

Award assessors confirmed the site is officially viewed by the AA as an 'excellent park, very well maintained and run', when it was visited in May 2009.

The assessor's report states, "On entering this park, it looked something special from the magnificent gateway, which is listed, to the long manor driveway, off which the first section of hardstanding pitches were sited. A warm and friendly welcome was received from all staff, and the owners, Dave and Jo, showed me around their lovely award-winning park.

"The three toilet blocks are to the highest standards with plenty of spacious private facilities, which were spotless. The blocks are well positioned to service all areas of the park. The park is currently applying for a “Green Tourism” grading hence the restriction in the number of fully serviced pitches.

"A main bus route runs from just outside the gate including the well known 'Jurassic X53' route. Bikes are also available for hire in keeping with the green philosophy, which is supported by excellent tourist information and local walks. The owners place customer service as the key to a successful business and the reviews this park receives certainly proves this"
Get out and get pedalling...
South Lytchett Manor is pleased to announce it is extending its cycle hire service with the addition of a dozen brand new bicycles for adults and children, and shiny new tricycles for the youngest members of the family!

Site owner David Bridgen said, "Cycling is now more popular than ever because it is the perfect, environmentally-friendly way to see the local countryside and keep fit in the process. We are delighted to support this growing interest in cycling by investing in new bikes for our visitors to use, and we hope they have a great time when they get out pedalling!"

The cycles are available to hire from reception, with day rates of £8 for adults and £7 for children. Tricycles cost £5 each.

Green Tourism Award
We have just had our very first inspection for the Green Tourism Award.
We are still waiting for the grading but it was fair to say that the assessor was very impressed with a number of initiatives that had been developed in the last 18 months. These included walks from the site, recycling facilities including battery recycling, the installation of water butts, the involvement of the RSBPB in identifying the different birds on the site, the way areas had been left to grow wild to support wildlife, the introduction of a new bus route by the site owners to Bournemouth, the availability of information to help people make their stay greener as well as the steps made on the site to conserve water, reduce carbon emissions and reduce heat loss through good insulation.
