Voted top site in Dorset again and again and again!
Fab site - it was our first real camping experience (we had been before with family but to a field with no facilities) and it has only made us want more! Team working there were friendly and the man who shows you to your pitch must clock up miles on his bike but still remains happy and helpful! Toilets and showers and washing up facilities were immaculate and modern - especially like the music! We were in the Minster Field with EHU and it was a lovely size pitch. The site was quite full as it was a warm weekend. It was very quiet after 11pm apart from a family who arrived late and were blowing up airbeds but that soon stopped and it was silent. Great shop with all the essentials covered including beer and penny sweets! The location is also perfect 10 minutes to the Swanage Railway, 5 minutes for Farmer Palmer and 10 minutes into Poole. The one and only drawback was the children's play park - it was a bit small for the size of the park with only 2 swings a slide and climbing frame, but there is a field with goals for football and we went to Poole Park 10 minutes or so away with an abundance of slides, swings etc.

Wow! What a site! We booked this site with a number of friends and, although the site did advise us that they don't generally take group bookings, they did site us in two separate groups within a short distance of each other.

Clean, well kept grounds and toilet blocks. Cubicles a little on the cramped side in the smaller block, and the shower heads need some attention, but they do suffer from very hard water so it's always going to be difficult to keep them running completely freely.

There is a list of rules provided with the information sheet, which on first glance seems excessive, but it's actually all down to common sense and respect for your neighbours, so no complaints there.

The staff were always only too pleased to help with whatever we asked for; the shop is fairly restricted in its supplies, but there is sufficient to provide any essentials required!

You can pay an extra £3 per night for fully serviced pitch with a picnic bench, which seems good value. All pitches very roomy and well laid out. Cracking.

Two pubs/restaurants are within easy reach; St Peter's Finger is an easy walk away, and has a cracking menu with very good staff. Thoroughly recommended.

The Bakers Arms is past St Peter's, and to be honest if we hadn't been to the other pub first I would have given it a better recommendation. Sadly, on the Friday we were there they needed more staff, and the menu wasn't as good as the other. All the same, a nice place to drink and eat, but not as nice as St Peter's Finger!

Places to visit locally include Lulworth Cove (very nice), Durdle Door (park at the dedicated site, don't try to walk from Lulworth), Monkey World, and the Tank Museum. Overall this is a cracking part of the world, and this site is very highly recommended.

South Lytchett Manor on TV
South Lytchett Manor scored a hit when it was featured in a Caravan Channel review recently. Visitors were asked to recount their experiences of the site, and they were hugely positive.

It was described as 'first class' and offering a 'wonderful welcome' by holiday maker Tony Poling, while the 'spotless facilities' were highly praised by camper John Buchanan. Visitors Alan and Maria Burt drew attention to the 'lovely wildlife' and the 'top class' nature of the site.
Playful puppy alert!
Playful puppy alert
The newest residents at South Lytchett Manor have been making their presence felt as only dogs can - with fun and games.

Rosie and Penny are two black Labrador puppies belonging to site owners David and Joanne Bridgen, and though they are only three months old, they have wasted no time in proving to every visitor just how playful puppies can be - you have been warned! :)

If you go walking in the woods at South Lytchett Manor this season, you could catch a glimpse of one of the four roe deer that have chosen to make the woods their home.

It's always a special moment when they appear - so wonderful to see these quiet and shy animals in this setting. The management team at South Lytchett Manor have taken them to their hearts and hope that visitors get a chance to enjoy the magic too.

As always though, please take care not to disturb or frighten them - wild animals need consideration and appreciation!
