A digital detox – or not!
We couldn’t help but smile. When the BBC chose to interview holidaymakers on the theme getting away from it all, they came to South Lytchett Manor and asked our guests about the benefits of digital detoxing.
It seems we now spend an average 25 hours a week on line, with more than half of us saying we’re addicted to our digital devices. As a direct result, people are increasingly looking for holidays where they can take a break from going online and parents are insisting their kids take an online break, with nearly two thirds having been ‘digitally grounded’.
We smiled because here at South Lytchett Manor we have long boasted of beautiful scenery, a quiet environment and all the blessings of an off-line holiday. But even given all these beautiful and natural attractions, what our guests asked us about most was better access to free Wi-Fi!
Always keen to please, we responded by investing in the best free Wi-Fi we could come up with – now available right across the site. And it was working perfectly when the BBC visited to talk to our guests for their early morning, one o clock and six o clock news programmes which were broadcast on August 4th.
Perhaps the moral of the story is that choice is all-important. So if you stay with us and you want to check your Facebook page or send some crafty emails, we’re more than happy for you to hook up. If on the other hand, you prefer a ‘digital detox’ and a real chance to get away from it all, look no further. South Lytchett Manor is at your offline disposal.
We spent a couple of nights here and were impressed by the friendly, helpful staff. The shop was well stocked. There was a herb garden and campers were free to help themselves, which I thought was a nice touch. The bus stop was right outside the gate with buses going to Poole and Bournmouth. Compared to many in Europe, this was one of the better campsites we visited.

We booked a five night stay here for the summer holiday to take our daughter away! We have been camping lots before. By far this is the BEST campsite we have had the pleasure of staying at! The staff are always happy, friendly and welcoming! Pitches are huge and there is plenty of space between pitches, electric hook up and TV hook were brilliant, had no problems! The facilities were immaculate! I am disabled and the disabled facilities were also immaculate! Also on the radar key system. Situated a 5 minute drive from Poole Quays and 20 minute drive to Bournemouth, it is in a perfect place for exploring the coastline and much more! We will definitely be back to stay and cannot recommend it highly enough! Thank you so much for making our holiday stress free and we will see you again soon!

First time at this site, recommended by friend also staying there. What a fab site, so clean all the time, lovely bathrooms, good recycling facilities. Family run site, very friendly & hospitable. Bought a new tent just before we left & want to go again now. We loved it here!
