Silver at South West Tourism Awards

Judges in the South West Tourism Awards have named Dorset’s South Lytchett Manor Caravan and Camping Park as winners of the event’s prestigious Silver accolade.

The family-run business was chosen for a place among the three finalists after beating more than 400 holiday parks competing in the “Holiday Park of the Year” category.

Entries from across Cornwall, Devon and Dorset were considered for the awards, aimed at highlighting the very best experiences for holidaymakers.

Stepping forward to receive their silver trophy at the awards ceremony in Weston-super-Mare were Matthew Bridgen, son of park owners Joanne and David, and his sister Megan.

The award marks the regional heat of the national VisitEngland 2015 awards, and South Lytchett Manor will now be fast-tracked to the national finals in May.

The 150-pitch touring park, set in the former grounds of a historic country manor house, has received a raft of honours since Joanne and David took on the business in 2007.

The couple has invested much time and energy into developing the grounds, putting the emphasis on first-class facilities and led by the principles of sustainable management.

Their reward has been to see the 5 star campsite scoop a host of awards from tourism authorities, guides and environmental bodies – plus regular visitors from all over the UK and overseas.

According to Joanne Bridgen, entering for the South West Tourism Awards has helped sharpen her park’s focus even more tightly.
