
Poole Stadium is the location for some exciting events which happen in the town. It is home to both Poole Greyhounds and the Poole Pirates Elite Speedway Racing Team. Both offer a great opportunity for a fun, entertaining and action packed family evening you won’t forget.
Events take place throughout the year on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday (with some exceptions), so you are almost guaranteed to be able to enjoy a thrilling evening either at the dogs or watching the speedway boys doing their stuff when staying in the area. Poole Stadium also offer a deal for every event which gets you admission, a race programme, two drinks, a hot meal, lucky dip jackpot ticket and free return admission.
See some of the world’s fastest dog breeds in action as they leap off the line and rocket around the purpose built greyhound racing track. The maximum recorded speed of a greyhound is a whopping 43 MPH, so you can expect them to get up to some impressive speeds and put on an amazing show.

There are around 14 races hosted every evening, so there’s even if you’re not picking the winners straight away there’s always an opportunity later on in the evening. There’s even a dog of the month which is celebrated on their Facebook page, along with all of the previous race winners.
For adrenaline junkies, the Poole Pirates Speedway Team put on a fantastic showing. The sights, smells and sounds are like nothing else in sport. Watch as the highly skilled Poole Pirates Team slide their way, inches from the floor at high speed, around the track as if they were on the curved track at Brooklands. The Poole Pirates have a great heritage. They have been based at the Wimborne Road stadium since 1948, and have won 11 major trophies during the Elite League Championship, so you can expect them to put on a spectacular showing.
The Poole Pirates Speedway Team is one of the best in the country, with their biggest streak starting from 2013 ’till 2015, with 3 elite league wins in a row. The team over the years has featured some incredible riders, including the likes of Craig Boyce, Mark Loram and Lars Gunnestad who have made their way onto the Pirates Hall of Fame by supporters.
Must have facilities can be found at the stadium you can enjoy during your visit. From a fully equipped restaurant, parking and disabled toilets, the grounds come prepared for your every need. The stadium is also conveniently located right in the centre of Poole, near the train station and bus stops.
The fully equipped restaurant can be found on the 1st floor of the stadium. It can seat up to 312 people and features two fully licensed bars. Offering lots of tasty food, a glass grandstand that overlooks the track and large TVs where current races are streamed, the restaurant makes for a great place to sit back and unwind.

Poole Stadium is just a short 10 minute drive away from our campsite by car, and can also easily be accessed by public transport.
Standard entry ranges from £7 for Tuesday, £8 for Saturday and £7 for Sunday for adults and a flat £1 rate on all days for children. However, if you want just that bit more, there are the “six pack deals” available which get you admission, race programme, 2 drinks, a hot meal, lucky dip jackpot and free return admission. The “six pack deal” ranges from £10 to £14 depending on the day, but is recommended for the bests value for your evening’s entertainment.
We know that a night out at either the dogs or the speedway is favourite with locals and visitors alike. We’d definitely recommend it as a great evening out for all the family. Take the kids down for an action packed evening and enjoy some unforgettable greyhound and motorcycle speedway racing!
