Judges in the 2020-21 South West Tourism Excellence Awards announced that South Lytchett Manor had taken the overall gold title in the Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year category at this year’s award ceremony.
The virtual event was watched by hundreds of tourism chiefs in Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, and the Isles of Scilly.
Joanne and David Bridgen, who run park with their son Matt, said they were stunned to have beaten scores of other eligible parks across England’s South West.
“It’s wonderful that Dorset will be the home of this trophy for the next twelve months, and will help highlight the county as a fantastic holiday destination,” said Joanne.
“We hope this will benefit all parts of our tourism industry after a very difficult year for local businesses, including those which rely heavily on visitor spending, like local shops.”
“This award means a lot to us as the judges based their decision not just on the quality of our park’s facilities, but also the standards of hospitality we provide.”
“Creating a happy and friendly atmosphere has always been important to us, and our staff team plays a big part in ensuring that guests enjoy the best possible experience.”
“That’s why they deserve a massive share of the credit for this achievement.”
South Lytchett Manor has been busy the past winter, investing heavily in improvements across the Park.
Staff have been busy hand-building six new Glamping Pods, with underfloor heating and room for two adults and two children to enjoy a cosy Glamping experience near Poole and Bournemouth.
They have also completely created a new cafe within the shop, which incorporates the very successful bakery onsite along with yummy cakes, coffee made from a local roastery called Coffee Mongers, and plenty of local delicacies from Dorset Tea, Moores Biscuits, and more!
