The North Dorset Trailway is stretches from Sturminster Newton to Spetisbury and is approximately 14 miles long. The well maintained path is suitable for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. It is also mobility scooter and pushchair friendly.
The popular route is made up of sections of the Somerset and Dorset Railway, which linked Bristol and Bournemouth until the 1960s. The trailway passes through some of North Dorset’s best loved countryside and offers a glimpse of quaint towns and villages. Walkers will be treated to far-reaching views across the Blackmore Vale and the River Stour. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife – it’s not uncommon to see kingfishers and even otters.
Visitors can complete the trail in one go, or in smaller sections. There are car parks at various destinations along the route.
