Wareham

Places To Visit

If you’re looking for a campsite near Wareham, South Lytchett Manor is ideally located. Our family friendly park is suitable for all types of campers, caravanners and motorhomes. We also have some great glamping options too.

Historic market town

For a relaxing day out in a pretty Dorset town then Wareham is hard to beat. With an array of quaint shops, historical landmarks and bustling quayside it is a great option for a day trip away from our campsite.

The town is the gateway to the Isle of Purbeck and is surrounded by rolling hills which lead to Swanage. The villages of Corfe, Wool, West Lulworth and Moreton are also close by.

Wareham is steeped in history and signs of previous inhabitants are still clear to see. It is one of the last remaining Saxon walled towns in the country. You can still take a walk along the top of walls and imagine what life was like here centuries ago.

Food and drink

When you fancy a bite to eat, there is no shortage of places where you can enjoy a delicious meal. Choose from the many pubs, cafes and take away eateries in the town. Or if you’re after something a bit more refined then there are a couple of country house hotels to enjoy.

The River Frome borders the southern edge of Wareham before it flows into Poole Harbour. As such you can hire a rowing boat or kayak from the Quay and pootle about whilst being surrounded by water meadows and an abundance of wildlife.

If you have enough time, why not take a river cruise? In the summer there are boat trips, which leave Wareham and go all the way to Poole Quay and back. This is a fantastic way to get your fish and chips and enjoy them in the evening sunshine.
