Poole Quay

Food & DrinkPlaces To Visit

Poole Quay is a hive of activity, with plenty to offer visitors and locals alike. The historic and bustling waterfront is home to an exciting mix of attractions, shops and restaurants with a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Poole Quay is perfect for whiling away a couple of hours at any time of year. It’s the ideal place to sit back, relax and watch the world go by!

The quay is located close to the Old Town, within easy reach of the main shopping streets and fascinating Poole Museum. There are plenty of independent shops to peruse should you wish to indulge in a bit of retail therapy during your visit!

If you’re into history, we highly recommend following the Cockle Trail, which takes in some of Poole’s heritage sites. Follow brass plaques in the floor on a self-guided walk and discover various landmarks and buildings, including the internationally acclaimed Sea Music Sculpture.

Bars and restaurant

There’s no shortage of places to eat and drink on Poole Quay, it just depends what type of cuisine takes your fancy. From seafood restaurants to traditional pub grub, we guarantee you’ll find somewhere lovely to eat as you take in the view. If you’d prefer a light bite, what better place to treat yourself to some fish and chips and an ice cream!

Boat trips

Poole has a thriving maritime industry and there are plenty of pleasure boat trips available from the quayside. Take a scenic trip around Poole Harbour to Brownsea Island or a leisurely steam to Wareham along the River. For the more adventurous there are adrenaline fuelled powerboat rides and jet ski tours available. There are also various deep-sea fishing charters available.

If you don’t fancy getting out on the water yourself, it’s still lovely watching the comings and goings of this thriving port. From one of the benches along the quay you can marvel at the luxurious Sunseeker Superyachts that are built here.

Events

Poole Quay plays host to varied events programme, with events for all ages taking place throughout the year. In the summer visitors can enjoy the Poole Boat Show, Folk on the Quay, Pirate day and various firework displays. In October there is typically a Zombie parade to mark Halloween as well as Christmas events.
