Swanage Beach

Beaches

Swanage is a traditional Victorian seaside resort and a favourite spot for young families. The impressive beach is the ideal place to spend the day relaxing and taking in the picturesque views overlooking Swanage Bay.

The whole expanse of beach boasts beautiful golden sand. Children will love the space on offer and can spend hours upon hours building sandcastles, digging holes and playing beach games.

Award Winning

For more than 17 consecutive years, Swanage beach has been granted Blue Flag status. This prestigious award recognises water quality, beach cleanliness, facilities and ensures the council adhere to stringent environmental management criteria.

Swimming at Swanage Beach

During the summer season the RNLI life guard service have a presence on the beach for added peace of mind. There is a designated swimming area, indicated by flags and beach craft are restricted for your safety.

If you plan on exploring the crystal-clear waters of Swanage Bay by kayak or dinghy, you can launch your craft from the Parish slipway.

World Class diving site

Swanage Bay boasts a number of world class dive sites that attracted visitors in their droves each year. From the pier you can charter a dive boat to take you out to nearby wrecks and other points of interest. There are also sea fishing and passenger boat trips on offer.

Dog friendly Swanage

Swanage beach is a dog friendly between 1st October – 30th April each year. Outside of this period owners must use ‘Monkey Beach’, which is situated close to the old stone quay, which is next to the pier.

The beach to the north of Ulwell Stream is privately owned and separate regulations are in place. As such, we advise beach goers to carefully read the signage to ensure rules are being followed.

Facilities

One of the draws of Swanage beach is the wealth of facilities on offer. Just moments’ walk from the beach you will find public toilets, a beach shower and a number of kiosks selling ice creams, fish and chips and wide selection of refreshments.

For your entertainment there is a traditional Punch and Judy show, amusement arcade and inflatable children’s playground, with bouncy castles, dinosaur themed mini golf and train.

Deckchairs, pedalos and other water sports equipment to hire and beach huts are also available to rent on a daily, weekly and even seasonal basis.

Swanage is approximately 30 minutes’ drive from South Lytchett Manor. There are a number of pay and display car parking options within walking distance of the beach. Alternatively, guests can take the open top Purbeck Breezer Bus from right outside the entrance to our park.
