Walking Holidays in Dorset

South Lytchett Manor is ideally placed for a walking holiday in Dorset. Some of the most scenic walks in the country are located within easy reach of our caravan and camping park, making it easy to get out and explore the local area by foot.

Whether you’re an avid hiker, or just fancy a leisurely afternoon stroll, there’s guaranteed to be a route that takes your fancy. Get out in the great outdoors and take in magnificent views over the idyllic countryside and world-famous Jurassic Coast, before returning to our award-winning park to make the most of the facilities.

Walks from the park

Upton Country Park & Poole Harbour

Our caravan and camping site is set in a convenient location, within easy reach of Poole and Bournemouth. From our park it’s just a short walk to Upton Country Park, where you’ll find a network of footpaths and different landscapes to explore.

On arrival you can take some time to look round the walled gardens before venturing into the woodland, which eventually opens up onto the heath. From here you can continue along the coastal route around Poole Harbour, where you can stop to admire the views. The shoreline is a haven for wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled for bird life. If you’re lucky you might even spot a seal!

Circular walks

There are a number of circular walks accessible from the park – with something to suit all abilities. We’ve created guides for 3 of our favourites, which are approximately 3-4 miles in length. They all take in the unspoiled countryside surrounding our park and offer views over farmland and woodlands. They incorporate various refreshment stops including our local pub, St Peters Finger and the Craft Centre Cafe.

You can find printed directions in our information hut or download the routes below.

South West Coast Path

The South West Coast Path extends from Minehead in Somerset to Poole Harbour – a distance of 630 miles. We recommend completing small sections of the route during your stay at our Dorset holiday park, so you can experience some of the best sights along the Jurassic Coast.

Our personal favourite is the Isle of Purbeck section, which includes Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Worbarrow Bay and Kimmeridge. We also love the path next to Old Harry Rocks – on a clear day you can even see the Isle of Wight in the distance!
