If you’re looking for a campsite near Dorchester, we’re ideally located. Our family friendly Dorset campsite is suitable for all types of campers, caravanners and motorhomes. We also have some great glamping options too.
If you’re heading west from our park ensure you pay a visit to the traditional market town of Dorchester. It is Dorset’s County Town and bustling with a number of high quality shops, restaurants, bars and multi-screen cinemas. In fact if you’re a film lover then make sure you head to The Plaza cinema which has all the latest releases and mod-cons of a picture house but with a bargain price tag from only £3.50 a seat. The bustling high street is well worth a wander through as it has a good mix of independent shops and national chains.
Get to know the history of the town by going to one of the great local history museums. The Dorset County Museum and The Shire Hall both offer an excellent experience. There are also museums with themes around teddy bears, dinosaurs, military, Terracotta Warriors and Tutankhamun.
Newer developments in Dorchester include Brewery Square. It is the recent re-development of the previous Eldridge Pope brewery site into a vibrant new quarter of the town. It includes a mix of restaurants, cafes, shops as well as residential apartments. To the west of the town is a much larger development of Poundbury which is built on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. It is worth a visit to experience the place which King Charles III envisaged in the 1980s.
