Wimborne Minster

Places To Visit

A short journey time from our park is the quaint market town of Wimborne Minster. The beautiful and historic town has numerous attractions and first rate restaurants, cafes and pubs to enjoy. It’s a great place to wander around.

Wimborne Minster Church

Making a striking appearance on the edge of the town is the main Wimborne Minster Church. This is a Saxon church, with Norman and Gothic architecture. It is famed for its chained library and the tomb of King Ethelred, the brother of Alfred the Great, as well as the tombs of John Beaufort, Duke of Somerset, and his duchess, the maternal grandparents of King Henry VII of England. The tombs are made of Dorset Limestone and New Forest Stone.

Wimborne Minster Folk Festival

Wimborne’s annual family fun Folk Festival has been taking place for over 30 years. With a range of dance, music and comedy acts there’s something for everyone during the three day events which happens every June.

Model Village

Take a visit to the town’s model village and experience a world in miniature. Be amazed by a 1/10th scale model of the town’s streets, shops and gardens as they looked in the 1950s.

Tivoli Theatre

If you fancy being entertained with some on stage action then take a visit to the delightful Tivoli Theatre. A variety of stage and on screen shows can be seen here in whilst being surrounded by some fantastic original Art Deco features such as including original chrome and Bakelite door handles.

Watering Hole Options

There are plenty of great locations available for a pub stop and refreshments. The Olive Branch is more up market pub serving good locally sourced beer and food.
