A short journey time from our park is the quaint market town of Wimborne Minster. The beautiful and historic town has numerous attractions and first rate restaurants, cafes and pubs to enjoy. It’s a great place to wander around especial on one of the three weekly market days.
Held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday Wimborne Market has established itself as a firm fixture of the town. Fridays have plenty of farmer’s market stalls where you can find plenty of fresh local produce including a regular quality butchers, bakers, fruiters, fishmonger and cheese stands. There is also an antiques centre along side the market which has an array of collectables and furniture for sale.
Making a striking appearance on the edge of the town is the main Wimborne Minster Church. This is a Saxon church, with Norman and Gothic architecture. It is famed for its chained library and the tomb of King Ethelred, the brother of Alfred the Great, as well as the tombs of John Beaufort, Duke of Somerset, and his duchess, the maternal grandparents of King Henry VII of England. The tombs are made of Dorset Limestone and New Forest Stone.
Wimborne’s annual family fun folk festival has been taking place for over 30 years. With a range of dance, music and comedy acts there’s something for everyone during the three day events which happens every June.
Take a visit to the town’s model village and experience a world in miniature. Be amazed by a 1/10th scale model of the town’s streets, shops and gardens as they looked in the 1950’s.
If you fancy being entertained with some on stage action then take a visit to the delightful Tivoli Theatre. A variety of stage and on screen shows can be seen here in whilst being surrounded by some fantastic original Art Deco features such as including original chrome and Bakelite door handles.
There are plenty of great locations available for a pub stop and refreshments. The Olive Branch is more up market pub serving good locally sourced beer and food. Alternatively if y

Absolutely superb! Very speedy, efficient check in. Office couldn't do enough for you. Customer service top class. Our family party stayed in 3 dog friendly shepherds huts. Beautiful decor. Nice little self contained area for the 5 shepherd huts. Clean and modern toilet and shower facilities within less than 2 minutes. Large socially distanced communal washing up area. Large 2 acre area for exercising the dogs within 3 mins walk of shepherds huts. Couldn't fault this stay. Margaret, Apr 2021
We had a simply fabulous time at South Lytchett Manor last month. We were not sure about camping in October but the site is well insulated, the playground kept our kids well entertained and the facilities were super clean and comfortable. We loved having a shop onsite and there are water taps and electricity points in abundance.. we have stayed at a number of sites and couldn’t recommend this Beth, Nov 2020
Great campsite, really friendly and polite staff. Very clean facilities and felt ‘safe’ with all the hand sanitizer and clear signage, highly recommend - we’ll probably book one of the huts next time.... Richard , Oct 2020
