Here are some of our top ideas for summer holiday days out you can do in Dorset…

Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park

A short drive (or a quick hop on the bus) from South Lytchett Manor and you’ll be at Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park.

This large farm park has lots on offer for all children, but is mainly geared towards under 8s. Expect hay bale slides, indoor and outdoor play areas, opportunities to meet the animals, tractor-trailer rides and no doubt a range of fun-filled events taking place across the summer holidays.

Tickets are cheaper when pre-booked.

Splashdown Water Park

The perfect way to cool down on those hot summer days, Splashdown offers lots of fun with a variety of flumes – some taking you outside. For younger children, the indoor splash areas are great fun. There’s also an on-site café where you can grab light bites to eat.

Corfe Castle

Corfe Castle

Practice being your inner knight or princess at the National Trust’s Corfe Castle. Hop on the number 40 bus from outside our gates for a direct route to Corfe.

Climb the castle ruins, learn about some of the castle’s more gruesome history and lock mum or dad up in the stocks! Look out for special events taking place during the school summer holidays.

Elsewhere in the village of Corfe, little ones will also love the Corfe Castle Miniature Village.

The Swanage Steam Railway

Step back in time and hop aboard the Swanage Steam Railway as it whisks its way through the beautiful Dorset countryside. Join the train at Wareham, Corfe or Swanage and choose to travel the whole route or sections of it. We love catching the train from Wareham down to Swanage and then taking the short route down to Swanage beach for sandcastle building and ice creams!

Moors Valley Country Park

Moors Valley Country Park

Explore acres of woodlands, hire bikes or segways, follow the woodland play trail and take in the views from the Tree Top Trail. In addition to this, there’s a miniature railway, large children’s play area, big picnic field and café.

The park’s rangers often run nature-based events throughout the school summer holidays so be sure to look out for these.
