If you love the endorphins that you receive after exercising, then there are plenty of opportunities to burn off that excess energy in and around our campsite. Whether it’s running, cycling or water sports – take your pick.
How many Parkrun sites have you visited?
Whether you are aiming for a PB or are simply looking to start your weekend off as you mean to go on – there are a couple of Parkruns local to us that are within an easy reach. What’s more? As you are probably aware, Parkruns are free to enter and are a great way of feeling part of the community.
Our closest Parkrun is Upton House Parkrun which takes you on a 5k route around Upton Country Park.
There is an early bird parking charge until 10.30am on a Saturday plus Parkrun participants and volunteers benefit from 10% off in the Upton Park tea rooms if they show their Parkrun barcode.
And for anyone who is into doing the Parkrun alphabeteer challenge will love the fact that this Parkrun beings with a ‘U’!
Encompass the boating lake of Poole Park if you take on the Poole Parkrun – running on a mixture of tarmac and compacted gravel.
Fun fact – Poole Parkrun is where runner Melissa Courtney-Bryant clocked the fastest women’s Parkrun with a time of just 15 minutes, 31 seconds!
Slightly further afield but within a reasonably short travelling time, you have the following:
At Kings Park Athletic Stadium.
Around Moors Valley Country Park (this course is run on a mixture of tarmac paths, loose stone paths and trail paths).
Along the Jubilee Way in Blandford – a linear route run on a mixture of tarmac paths and hard packed paths.
And don’t forget, if you are staying here with children, there are Junior Parkruns that usually take place on Sunday mornings too!
Hire bikes from our reception (or bring your own) and pick from a variety of family-friendly cycling routes or more challenging routes directly from our campsite.
Choose to cycle to nearby Upton Country Park, further afield to the beaches of Bournemouth or into the Purbeck hills surrounding Swanage and Corfe Castle.
There are lots of opportunities to get out and about on the water within a short distance of South Lytchett Manor. Whether it’s SUP, boat hire or open water swimming along the coastline, we explore more about this in our water sports blog.
From Segway rides or navigating the high ropes course at Moors Valley Country Park or a taking on the muddy assault course at Dorset Adventure Park – you’ll find plenty of places nearby to make some amazing memories.
