Autumn and Winter Holidays in Dorset

Off peak travel is becoming increasingly popular, with more and more people choosing to holiday in the quieter months. Dorset has a completely different feel in autumn and winter, which suits visitors looking to enjoy the spectacular scenery and award-winning attractions at a slightly slower pace.

South Lytchett Manor opens from March to January every year, providing plenty of chance to enjoy a Dorset getaway in the autumn and winter. We have a range of cosy glamping accommodation to choose from as well as fully serviced caravan and motorhome pitches with electric hook up, waste disposal and TV connection.

Winter attractions & activities

Dorset is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK, so it can get extremely busy in peak season. Autumn and winter are comparatively quiet, enabling you to explore towns, villages and attractions with fewer crowds.

On colder days it’s not uncommon to have outside spaces and beaches to yourself. Your four-legged friend will love having the freedom to run off lead at some of Dorset best dog friendly beaches and you can make the most of less traffic and abundant parking!

Many attractions, pubs and restaurants offer winter specials and we offer a saver season rate. The savings mean you can enjoy an extra night or treat yourself to some special experiences during your family holiday or couple’s break.

Please note: some Dorset attractions operate with reduced opening hours during the winter. Always check the website before starting your trip to avoid disappointment!

Stunning Dorset scenery

South Lytchett Manor is popular with guests looking to enjoy a walking or cycling holiday near Poole and Bournemouth. The scenery looks spectacular as the leaves change various shades of orange and brown and the rugged coastline takes on a completely different feel.

There’s nothing better than a bracing winter walk along a windswept beach – the nearby Jurassic Cosat has plenty to choose from! The South West Coast path is delightful at this time of year and forests and country parks come into their own.

The crisp winter days provide plenty of opportunities for sightseeing and the clear skies make the area popular for stargazing. The colder months are also great times to visit if you are interested in wildlife. There are lots of autumn wildlife watching opportunities close to the park.
